meet george, one of our hounds, who'd be very happy to greet you (or not, if you prefer.) we are a dog-friendly property (one per room + $30 per night.) just tell us when you're booking the room and we'll include a doggie welcome treat along with your tate's cookies and north fork chips.

hampton bays=sunsets+oysters. the oyster baskets are part of a cornell university marine program where volunteers raise oysters, helping to increase the local shellfish population. as for the sunsets, they are our free, nightly entertainment. (click on the photo to read more about the marine program.)

the station bar, at the end of our canal on shinnecock road, is a great local hangout known for its happy hours and live music. (click on the photo to go to their website.)

free bikes are available for use during your stay

tate's cookies, which we include in all guest welcome baskets, was founded by local resident kathleen king, who started selling homemade cookies at her family's southampton farm stand when she was 11. in 2018, she sold tate's, named after her father and by then a national brand, for $500 million.

situated on the peconic and shinnecock bays, linked by the shinnecock canal, and home to the shinnecock inlet, which connects the bays to the ocean, hampton bays is home to commercial fishing fleets and plenty of sport fishing as well. (click map for more on area fishing.)

thoughtfully decorated with a nod to classic beach motels, our 15 rooms include studios, one- and two-bedroom suites, with a mix of queen and two twin beds. some rooms have front porches or water views.

drive an electric vehicle? there are several tesla chargers 2 miles from our property in a shopping center parking lot. the chargers are rarely full … we know this because we are often in the parking lot going to supermarket, etc. while you’re charging, you can stop by the supermarket, liquor store, pizzeria or deli in the shopping center.

it is a hamlet within the town of southampton on the western edge of “the hamptons,” so when summer traffic starts to bottleneck, the drake inn offers you a great beach escape in less time.
it is known for its uncrowded beaches and waves and old-school Long Island fishing village vibe with the best sunsets and authentic seafood restaurants in the hamptons.

hampton bays is about 80 miles from NYC, depending where you are. travel times depends on day and time.
the Long Island Railroad travels from either Penn Station or Grand Central Terminal to Hampton Bays usually with a change in Jamaica. travel time is about 2.5 hours.
Hampton Jitney bus service picks up in Manhattan and Brooklyn and travels (nonstop and 1-stop) to Hampton Bays. Travel time depends on what day and time you’re traveling.
Blade offers helicopter and seaplane service from Manhattan.
